Skin Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world, caused largely due to exposure to ultra violet radiation from the Sun or the modern fad of using tanning beds. There are three major types of skin cancers, which are basal cell cancer that is usually local, squamous cell cancer, which is likely to spread to other parts of the body and melanoma, the most aggressive of the cancer types, which quickly spreads to other parts of the body and, if untreated, leads to death. This is why, early detection of skin cancer is key to cure.

Skin cancers usually start out as small lesions or moles on your skin that we often overlook. But with Skin Vision, a smartphone app, you can now quickly check any new lesion or mole for risk of skin cancer from the comfort of your home. All you need to do is use the Skin Vision app and use your smartphone's camera to take a picture of the lesion. Actually, all you need to do is focus your camera on the lesion in bright light and then the app takes a picture on its own.

Using a proprietary algorithm, that was scientifically tested at the dermatology clinic at the Ludwig- Maximilians Universitat in Munich, the app analyzes the lesion and in an instant gives an assessment of the lesion and the potential that it leading to something bigger.

The app has also the provision to archive the images of your lesions and track them over a period of time so that you can keep a tab on their progression and also consult your doctor with your records. SkinVision is a revolutionary app and the only one that is CE marked for use in the EU. User charges for this app start at €4.99 a month with a month's free trial to begin with.

Here is a short video about this innovative app that is changing the way skin health is being monitored along the globe.

Skin Vision app is available on the App Store as well as Google Play Store
